Missouri Southern State University is a mid-size regional school in Joplin, Missouri, and its Greek system is on the smaller, more intimate side — a few fraternities and a couple of sororities make up the whole community. ZTA has its long-standing ties to breast cancer awareness programming, and KA brings its own traditions rooted in the organization's national history. Across the board, Greek organizations at schools this size often lean heavily into community service and campus events as a way to stay present and relevant.
Greek life is a piece of MSSU's social scene, but it's one piece among many. Joplin itself is a real mid-size city with things going on beyond campus, so students here have options that extend well past what any single organization is hosting on a given weekend.
