What are the general thoughts on AOPi? I went through fall recruitment and ranked them outside of my top choices, ended up dropping from recruitment for personal reasons and am now getting the opportunity to meet with some AOPi members in an informal recruitment setting. I "cut" them because I felt I just didn't know enough about them or know any active members when compared to other houses. I'm meeting with some girls next week & was hoping someone could offer info about them that isn't directly from their website. Kinds of girls in the house, etc. Preferably in a positive/constructive manner. :)

Meet the girls and see you if you click well with them. They're new so there's not much to say about them yet. If you aren't 100% sure that you belong there then hold out and try going through formal recruitment next year. I went through recruitment this year and didn't have any issues with AOPI, I thought they were nice girls, I just knew I didn't belong there. A lot of people look down on them for being new but the girls I've met are rally proud of their sorority so just see how well you mesh with them when meeting them!

In addition to what the previous poster said, AOII is a very strong national organization (and in the SEC in particular) and you would have a unique opportunity to help set the tone for this chapter for years to come. They are making a name for themselves in Texas as well. Everyone I have met has been someone I think I would be a good friend to have. Good luck.

Do they have land for a house yet?

No. They never will. There's no space on sorority row anywhere. If they decide to build away they will forever be known as the weird unplugged satalite sorority. It's a catch 22.

They have to have plans for a house within 3 years & have one built in 5 or they will be discharted at tamu. There are rumors they may buy out an apartment complex in the area of sorority row at some point but it's a rumor so who knows. My RHO gam from recruitment over the summer said they tried to buy the frat house that's on the row but the frat wanted upwards of 3 mil for it so they decline.
