Snap Bids are not what you think they are, and no one but a few circumspect women on campus will know if they will occur. Snap bids ONLY occur during Formal Recruitment, after formal recruitment pnms are bid matched but before formal recruitment bids are distributed. Snap bids maximize the number of women receiving Formal Bids.
You may be thinking of informal or COB bids, which occur after formal recruitment bid day.

If any chapter does not make quota during bid matching, they can give out snap bids (up to quota) until bid day begins. No one will know if snap bids happen this year until after bids are matched late on the night of pref- and honestly, the only people who will know who was snap bid or which chapters gave out snaps are the Panhellenic bid matching team, the chapter's rush chair/ president/ advisor, and the pnm's accepting snap bids.
