opinons on pike
by: AggieWhat is the opinons on Pike? From sororities and fraternities.

Everyone joining pike was and is too scared to go through an actual pledgeship. Thats the number one reason other fraternities have a problem with them. They act like they are on par with everyone else, and sadly get to say they are a fraternity at Texas A&m. However you won't find one person that respects a single member of that chapter. If any one of them had the guts to have a true fraternity experience, then they would have joined a real fraternity instead of they're "fake frat". Honest opinion of why most other fraternity guys don't like pike.

I'm not a pike, I'm in another fraternity at A&M. I know that now they do have a pledgeship, but as a colony they didn't (obviously) so a lot of the older guys (not freshman or soph) did not have a pledgeship. This is a major reason why they have a lot of guys that probably would not be in any other fraternity at a&m. just my .02

The question isn't whether they're "fratty" enough to be a fraternity at A&M. They're not, but that's not the issue. The issue is that they came out of nowhere, offered cheap dues (under $100 the first semester from my sources inside Pike), no pledgeship program, and act like they are and indeed deserve to be THE top fraternity. That is not okay in any book. You get to the top by earning it over a period of time, not by springing out of the ground overnight and grabbing up as many "pledges" as you can. They may have the respect of sororities across campus, but that's not what the definition of a top tier fraternity is. You have to have respect from the other FRATERNITIES on campus. If you can't even get that, you don't deserve to call yourself a top tier fraternity. You don't create your own status, other people do. And that's why Pike is not and should not be a top tier fraternity at Texas A&M University.
