rushing as a junior
by: TAMU2017So I really don't like my university and I'm transferring to TAMU. I was interested in rushing a sorority, but will being a junior hurt my chances significantly? Thanks!

yes :/ certain chapters will refuse to take any juniors. you should still give it a shot (bc why not??) but keep in mind that some will cut you asap. i would definitely still go thru with it, just keep your mind open to ANYONE and try to make some connections before

Not going to lie, rushing as a junior is HARD. You'll need to be open to every house on campus and also be prepared for massive cuts. It can be emotional but it's not personal- you're a junior.
Use the rest of this year to start preparing:
1. Line up recs for EVERY SINGLE house on campus
2. Get your GPA up to the 3.5+ range.
3. Continue your campus involvement and build up your leadership experience. You're going to need a rock-star college resume.
4. Reach out to all friends and acquaintances who are in sororities at A&M to let them know you're transferring and going to rush. Try to visit them before silence starts this summer so you can meet more in-house friends.
