live in a house

by: future vet

I wish to live off campus when I go here next fall as I have a couple dogs. Do sorority members have to live in their house for at least one year sometime, or is it optional?

You are "supposed" to live in the house for a year.....but I know a lot of girls, myself included who went to great lengths to get out of the requirement

Just curious, except for the pet thing, or wanting to live with a boyfriend, why would you or others not want to live in the house?

I love my chapter and most of the girls in it but I'm a pretty private person and the last thing you get living in the house is privacy......it reminded me of a never ending middle school sleepover

You won't have to if you don't want to. I personally loved living in the house, but if the PC is like 80 girls then only half will be able to live in. It's actually competitive to get a bed in the house.

You'll have to ask each house as you go through recruitment. Most want you to live there your sophomore year but they all have their own ways of choosing who lives there and requirements.

with my sorority, it was no trouble at all not living in the house. not sure about the others, but with pcs so big, you probably won't have to. don't let not wanting to live in the house hold you back- I rushed knowing I absolutely did not want to live in the house!! now I'm a happy active who sure as heck doesn't live there :)
