Tri Delt is on social probation. Theyve been trying to play it off like theyre not but that's why they couldn't have theyre parties second semester.... Just another house down the row who thinks they're better than the rest

This board is hard to read as a mother with a daughter going through rush. I am hoping that people can put the funny little rivaliries aside and answer a quick question for a mom who really doesn't care which house is "best" and just wants her daughter to have a good rush. What does it meant that DDD and Chi O are on social probation? I know those are both houses that my daughter is looking at, along with KD and phi mu, although I think that she really liked most of the girls at all houses she met the first couple days. But are those houses on probation? for how long? and what will that mean to the new pledges this Fall?

I had the same questions and concerns last year.My daughter had the same sororities on her list when she entered rush week.To my understanding,to be on social probation means no formal (approved) events for the year.Formal events are a huge aspect of sorority and Greek life.My daughter pledged with a sorority that was not on her initial list and is extremely happy.She went with the sorority that "felt right" for her.I

If your daughter chooses those houses her freshman year is going to be miserable. No parties, no meeting new boys at exchanges... Although she may enjoy her chapter after they're off probation... It just won't be an exciting freshman experience.
