What’s so bad about AZD’s philanthropy?
by: FreshmanHey! Hope everyone’s having a good night. I’ll be a freshman and just wanted to know what the whole issue is with AZD’s philanthropy. Is it the way this specific chapter handles it? Is it because what causes autism is controversial? I’m sorry I’m just confused

omg don’t even get me started their philanthropy suxx for a million reasons! for starters, only 4% of what they raise actually goes towards helping children and families with autism while their CEO and board pockets the big bucks. there’s nobody with autism on their board either, no real representation of the people they claim to be for. please search up more info yourself. they don’t deserve ANY money

It IS very possible for a sorority to shift its international philanthropy. I'm a Gamma Phi Beta alum. We used to support camping. Now it is Girls on the Run. That happened at some point between the early 2000's and early 2010's. I am not super familiar with details, but I don't believe there were any "controversial" reasons for the shift, perhaps the supported organization went away or HQ just wanted to support a group that supported girls' physical AND mental/emotional health as GOTR does. This is NOT a judgement against AZD in any way, just an example that sororities CAN shift who they support.

Again that’s the problem. AZD as an organization has done nothing to change the philanthropy or acknowledge that this is a bad organization. It’s sad too cause it’s not the girls fault but they do nothing abt it
