Oregon Institute of Technology - OIT Overview

  About Greek Life at OIT

OIT is a small polytechnic university in Klamath Falls, Oregon — think engineering programs, hands-on labs, and a campus culture that revolves more around career prep than a traditional college social scene. The Greek community here reflects that smaller, more focused environment. There's one fraternity and one sorority active on campus, Phi Delta Theta on the men's side and Alpha Sigma Alpha on the women's side, making this one of the more intimate Greek systems you'll find at any four-year school in the Pacific Northwest.

Because OIT is a technical school with a strong professional focus, Greek life isn't the dominant social force it might be at a larger state university. It's more of a close-knit community within the broader campus. Chapters tend to be tight because they're small, and members often know each other well. Recruitment isn't the massive, multi-day production you'd see at a Big Ten school — it's more personal and low-key, which can actually be appealing if the high-pressure rush process at bigger schools isn't your thing.

Phi Delta Theta is one of the largest and most established fraternities in North America, so the OIT chapter connects into a broader national network and alumni base. Alpha Sigma Alpha similarly brings national programming, philanthropy initiatives, and leadership development opportunities to members. Both organizations participate in community service and philanthropy efforts consistent with their national chapters' missions.

In terms of housing, OIT doesn't have a traditional Greek Row, so don't expect chapter houses lined up along a boulevard. The Greek experience here is built more around shared membership and activities than around residential life. That setup shapes the culture — it's social and community-oriented without being geographically separated from the rest of campus.
