that famous girl

by: Curious

So does that famous girl make Pi Phi a popular house now? I feel like a lot of incoming PNMS will want it because of her.

The cheerleader- JA. I don't think it would hurt. My house didn't rush her and I think it was a big mistake.

If you think someone is famous for cheer, you might want to learn the difference between notorious and famous. Besides, a lot of people know about Miley Cyrus, Khloe Kardashian, and Lady Gaga, but no house at OU would even consider offering them a bid. Top houses take girls who have done something amazing, not set up a social network to sell stuff. I'm sure she's an okay girl, but the top houses let her go the first day because her type of notoriety wouldn't fit in in their houses.

As an alum, It is very discouraging to see women put other women down. I don't know this girl personally but she has done something amazing by winning world cheerleading. The fact that she has set up a site to sell stuff and support herself is fabulous. This is great to see this level of independence. I have no idea if my former house rushed her or not but from what I can tell this is exactly the kind of girl I would like my daughter to look up too. This is a great rep for Panhellenic women everywhere. I hope you learn to support other women instead of promoting jealousy.

I'm sure she's a fine girl, but not every house wants a girl that is notorious for her business. If her dad owned an oil company, that's noteworthy. Houses might be interested. If her parents have a family foundation, that's noteworthy and might be interesting to houses. Someone that is busy with an internet business can't contribute that much to the house. It just makes sense. If your house wanted her and got her, congratulations. If you wanted her and didn't get her, get off and stop being critical. If your house dropped her and you want to try to explain, be my guest. I think these comments have summed it up, but the Pi Phi's seem to be a little obtuse.

Sooo... Basically you are only interested in girls with family money vs girls that know how to make a name for themselves? This is exactly why girls should NOT want to be Greek.

Yeah, I agree that the rest of the campus would laugh at the level of scrutiny certain sororities give pnms, but she's right about the top houses. They do seem to care about why a girl is well known. If a girl is in the news they'd rather have it be for being a deb than for being a youtube sensation.

I'm guessing the only reason houses released her was that she didn't meet their grade and test score standards. That is something that can't be changed for anyone. It had nothing to do with whether she was famous or not. Some of the top houses have ridiculously high standards to get in based on gpa and test scores. That is not to say that she didn't have good grades but she just didn't meet the minimum.

All we know is that the top houses released her. We don't know why Could be grades, ACT scores, personality, or her notoriety, or something else entirely. Membership selection is completely private and no one is going to say why her house dropped her. The fact is that the top houses released her so the answer is that taking her doesn't make Pi Phi a top house. It rather makes them look not as good.

Ummm... The only houses better than PiPhi are Theta, Kappa, and DDD so I don't think anyone really gives a crap since the majority of girls were released from all 4 of those houses. The fact that you are so obsessed with her makes you look creepy as usual chi omega.

How do you even know what houses "released her"? Maybe she wanted to be a pi phi with her best friend?

No one knows for sure who released her. She told one of my friends that she only had Pi Phi, XO, and AOII left at some point but I don't know which day. It makes sense that KAT, KKG, DDD, GPB, AXO, and DG had PROBABLY (not for sure, so don't go crazy) released her. I know my house did. But it sounds like it worked out for her if she wanted Pi Phi from the start. The actual original question is kind of stupid, but the answer is that no, it doesn't make Pi Phi a popular house.

I don't think Pi Phi took her because she is famous. Her best friend is a Pi Phi.
