rec writers

by: :(

I reached out to a local alumnae group, and was so excited when they messaged me back saying they'd be happy to help me.
Well, I sent them everything they needed and then all of the sudden they stop contacting me. I have never met them, and im terrified she wrote me a bad recommendation. I am literally losing sleep over it. I already have little to no connections during rush, so a bad rec and I am screwed.

Has this ever happened to anyone? and is there anyway I can find out if she has sent in a rec for me?

Did you reach out to them after you sent in your packets?

no, I sent her two emails though after she responded saying she would be delighted to help me. I was told not to message her again but she would think I was annoying.

I am just so upset about this. Why would you ask for my resume and such, just to do that to me? She is was a grown, middle aged woman.
I have had rec writers take forever to get back to me-- but they at least let me know.

What should I have said?

I had over 40 women write recs and letters of support for me. Only three of those ladies ever contacted me after she wrote one. The rest just mailed them where they were supposed to go.

You did include a thank you card in your rush packet, didn't you? If not, send her one now.

I emailed her one. This was almost 2 motnhs ago. I was too nervous to email her again. What should I say?

How about emailing her and just saying:

"Thank you for writing my rec to xyz sorority. I really do appreciate it. I'm just following up to make sure you have everything you need from me. I can't wait to start my freshman year at ole miss and I can hardly wait for recruitment to begin."

Alumni get asked to write many recommendation letters and it is time consuming. Remember, they have been doing it for years....(they are removed from the pressures of rush)

Unless, you have weak gpa, activities, etc. I would not lose sleep.

You may want to give small gift as gesture of thanks...

But as alumni, I tell you I will spend hours writing letters and do not feel need to follow up with Pnm"s
