rec letters

Of course, PNMs will still be considered. It is BEST to get recs in prior to the actives going home for the summer, but that certainly doesn't mean that you have really hurt your rush badly. You just have to work harder to stand out from the other 1800 PNMs during rush.

It's not too late to turn them in, but you have already limited yourself. We are all home or on vacation for the summer. We've already spent months in rush workshops getting to know the girls who turned theirs in early. We all already have our "rush crushes" and know who we want.
That's not saying we won't meet you and fall in love, but it's going to be harder for you to attract our attention.
Pi phi, aopi, theta, ADPi, and now alpha phi will be the best bets for girls who haven't sent in their packets. Even though they have already started their lists, they won't be required to cut as many girls first round as some of the other sororities.

Hate to burst your bubble, but AOPi and Pi Phi have already looked at girls and have a list going already. That being said, Theta, ADPi and Alpha Phi are the ones that do not have a list already

So you are saying that it's too late for pi phi and aopi if you haven't already turned in your recs?

No, but like Kappa and Phi Mu they already have a good idea. When rush actually starts and girls start moving around from list to list, more room is made for the girls they don't already know. I know girls in Pi Phi and AOPI who knew they were going to be there from day one but then girls in Phi Mu and Kappa who came into rush with no idea. Because all of these houses take so many out of state girls, it's hard for them to know exactly who they want before rush. This is unlike chi o and tri delt, who have lots of mississippi girls who can visit and hang out all the time.
If you're nice, involved, and intelligent, you will be fine!! Just get recs in before rush workshops (beginning of august) at the latest

Most people I know haven't sent their's in yet. They're in the process of getting their packets to their rec writers or have just sent their packets to their rec writers. And these are girls who are most definitely wanted by the top chapters. Why is it bad to send them in this late? Obviously I know it would be beneficial to have sent them in before school got out, but still?

And here is a good example as to why it is important to have connections. Like you said, you have friends who are still sending in their Recs and these girls are desired by top houses. Obviously your friends have connections or the top sororities wouldn't have already heard about them (no packets sent in yet).
We started putting our lists together in February, long before registration even opened. If we knew girls we liked who were coming next year, we made posters, added their pictures to slide shows, invited them to spring parties, talked them up to our friends. It's not too late for these girls!
It IS too late for girls without connections! If we don't already know you, it's unlikely we will have time to get to know you after classes start! With classes, homework, football games, etc. we won't have time to go through 1800 packets!
