6 GLO's said they were interested and sent Ole Miss packets, 4 of those have been picked to make presentations in August. Those are Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Gamma Delta, Alpha Phi, and Delta Zeta. One will be selected to colonize after Formal Recruitment in 2013. Another will selected for 2015.

ADPi 215,870+ members 140 chapters;
AGD 160,000+ members 186 chapters;
APhi 200,000+ members 157 chapters;
DZ 234,000+ 160 chapters.

adpi and dz have been at Ole Miss before. the others have not. aphi is not generally as well known in the South but is flourishing as is alpha gam.

I hear APhi will be colonizing at LSU, trying to break the curse.

Alpha Gam was at Mississippi State for about 15 yrs...up until about 10-12 yrs ago. Then they had to shut down because of lack of members. Another Alpha Gam chapter in MS would be a HUGE mistake...as would another DZ chapter. The one at USM shut down abotu 15 yrs ago because they were terrible. I think MSU had a DZ chapter like a zillion yrs ago that shut down for the same reason.

And NOBODY down South knows what APhi even is, so they'd go over like a lead balloon.

If any sorority were to be able to make a run at another school in Mississippi, it would be a Kappa Kappa Gamma chapter at either MSU or USM. The chapter at Ole Miss is pretty good, and that national org is well-established.

If Ole Miss gets a new group, it should be a something that is really good at another school close by...like Alpha Chi Omega who is FAB at Alabama. The ones listed below are gonna be NOT well-received becasue of the stigma attached to them at other schools in the state. ADPi is terrible at USM and was at MSU decades ago until they shut down the chapter and Alpha Gam was awful at MSU before they shut down. Ole Miss is gonna have to find something that has never been at USM or MSU and then shut down if they want to be successful with a new sorority.

Bringing in a group who has had a chapter shut down at another Mississippi school is a recipe for disaster!!!!!

I agree with you. DZ has closed at Memphis and at Middle Tn State U. ADPi is not popular in Mississippi. Alpha Phi is not well known in the South and closed in Memphis. Choose carefully !!!
