I heard without a legacy there’s no chance of getting a bid here. Is that accurate?

No, they are just supper selective when giving out bids. You have to have connections to get in. Just become friends with of the few guys and they will vouch for you

(1) legacy
(2) home town friends/parents know each other

Some houses value (1) more than (2): DDD,XO
KD values (2) over (1)

If it's based on who you know, then it is not really that selective, just more private or homogeneous.

If you wait till rush, it’s so much harder to get a bid from a good fraternity. It’s still possible but they do all their rush stuff prior to it. Ole miss is one of the best schools to be in Greek life. A few of my fiends who rushed didn’t know people going in and they ended up with bids from only a few small fraternities. The biggest thing is to meet people when you first get to ole miss by going to the bars and meeting people on your floor. Remember that every fraternity might not like you. A few fraternities have a lot of snobby people in it. I ended up with 2 bids from good fraternities doing it this way! Good luck!
