you reap what you sow

by: IU greek

Nothing will change on this campus until Greek members start respecting each other. First thing we need to do is stop glorifying the "tier system." Yes, there will always be organizations that are more popular but we don't have to post it every 5 minutes. We have to stop calling organizations irrelevant and remember there are good and bad members in EVERY house (mine included.). Fear is what feeds the negative posts on this site. Fear of dropping in status creates the need to push others down. Fear in being called a reject creates a distrust of other organizations. I'm calling on the top tier fraternities and sororities to change the IU culture. YOU have the power to do this by including all chapters, socializing with chapters outside your norm and overall being leaders and positive people. We don't have to behave this way or be so mean and nasty to one another. Can we do more 4 pairs/6 pairs and include everyone? Who's willing? #IUGreeksUnited

this post makes me sad. We do need some ideas to make our Greek life more cohesive and kind.

Mad respect for whoever wrote this. At the end of the day, we are all pretty much the same. The majority of the fraternities and sororities were founded on nearly the same values. We all joined the greek system in hopes to build brotherhood/sisterhood. Being "better than" another chapter makes no sense. Just because you have a bigger house that your alumni donated $ to build makes you socially superior? The tier system is corrupt and it's sad to see where Greek life at IU is headed.
