got to pref and didn't get a bid
by: LonelyBoyI got all the way to Pref with some good houses and did not receive a bid. I assume the only places still giving out bids are unhoused. Is this true? Should I just rush again next year (do people get bids as sophomores?)?

I'm so sad to read this but great girls fall through in pref every year. Everyone who has ever worked in a back room during rush knows this happens. I think your chances are probably very good for next year, and you will know more girls in each house. Keep your head up and focus on the things that have worked or this semester.

"your chances are very good" is not being honest. Rush is hard and weird things happen for no apparent reason. Next year could work, but it also could not. I know plenty of sophs would went through twice only to be disappointed twice, but a few that is worked out for.
No one is giving out bids right now except Sigma Kappa and DPhiE. Check them out.

The girls at DPhiE were perfectly nice when I rushed but I didn't relate and I don't want to commit to a place I won't be happy. Do you think starting a new sorority will really be like a real greek experience? Or if I want that should I wait until next year?

Is a lot of hard work. It's cool to be part of, but no, it won't be the same as joining an established chapter.

I think the poster meant you would not be eligible to be a "quota addition", which is where a chapter can add you after they meet their quota, if you attended their pref and you put them on your card (&you did not suicide). Any chapter under quota can snap bid you but if you had them on your card - you would have matched bc they are under quota. It's weird for chapters to snap bid women who they cut before pref. But that's what usually happens. I think we see quota additions more than snap bids but that's just my guess
