money importance

by: freshman

Just wondering how much a girl's money is taken into account during recruitment? Like if the girl wears expensive things during rush vs. if she does not, etc.

I'm a freshman as well and am going to go through recruitment. Most people on here don't reply seriously and make smart ass comments. But from what I have heard they don't ask you how much money your parents make. There are sororities that are a lot more expensive than others so you need to know what you would be able to afford if/when you get to get to prefrence houses you are interested in continuing to try and get a bid for. As far as clothing, as long as you look nice and professional they arent going to examine the brand you are wearing.

I am in a house and we were told we absolutely could NOT discuss the "three B's" during recruitment--booze, boys, and bucks (how much your family makes).

Some houses don't straight up ask you if you're rich. Some eye you up and down, and will ask where you went on 'vacation over break.' It's actually sad to say that in some houses, how much money you have is a very big factor. Not all are like this though

can you name specific houses that would do this?

No because I don't want to create any bad first impressions of any of the houses. You will figure out where you do and do not fit during rush. The worst thing you can do is go on this site and base it off other's impressions. If half of the girls that rushed did so they wouldn't end up where they are!

I was asked what kind of car I drove, where my dad worked and where I went on Spring Break last year obviously sizing me up $$

They will not directly ask you any of these questions but they know how to ask other questions that will basically answer these questions. Some houses care more than others. It'll be obvious during rush which houses these are.

I'm in a house and when I went through recruitment, I honestly don't think any house cared how much money I had. None of the girls that rush you even really look at the clothes you're wearing, they look at your face and try to make a connection with you. Be a genuine, nice person that can hold a conversation and you'll end up where you'll be happy. If you don't get a bid, it's better that way because you don't want to be in a house where you don't connect with the girls in it.
