Do ranks matter? (For incoming freshmen)

by: Sillystring

Everyone on here will tell you that ranks don’t matter but from someone actually in greek life they definitely do, depending on what you’re looking for in a sorority.

If you care about going out then YES THEY DO MATTER

The main difference in touse vs mouse vs bouse will be your plans AKA what parties you get to attend AKA how much you get to go out.

At IU, top sororities will automatically be on the list & given wristbands for every top frat party, and can easily get into whatever they want.

They also get 2-3 wine nights consistently every week.

Meaning you can go out any day of the week. This is a guarantee if ur in a top 4 sorority (Aphi, Delta Zeta, Pi phi, Kappa).

& ur experience will be pretty similar in the rest of top 8 (Zeta, Chi o, AXO, gphi) just with fewer wine nights.

So, as long as ur anywhere top 8 u will have a great going out life and basically get to go wherever.

There is a BIG jump from T8 to the rest of the houses. If ur in any other house you won’t be on the list at any top frat meaning you will have a much harder time securing plans unless a lower-ranked frat is throwing.

With so many frats on CND this will be a real issue bc the sororities outnumber the frats & even the lower-ranked frats will reach capacity. You will spend your pregames printing bands, begging ur frat situationship to sneak u in, and having to show up 15 minutes early to have a chance at getting in.

So if you want to go out a lot, pay attention to rankings.

I chose a lower-ranked house over a T8 because I was worried abt sisterhood and I regret it every day. Ur “sisterhood” is all abt who u choose to be friends with & there are girls of every kind in every sorority. The only real difference between these houses is ur plans.

Not true with how many frats on cnd. Some nights it would literally be one house throwing and they would hit capacity rlly fast.

lower ranked houses also get wine nights too!! more like one or two a week.. just make sure you remember graduating should be the goal of college then sisterhood/friendships then everything else

Not true! Me & my friends in mouses had MAYBE 1 every 2 weeks. Or our socials would tell us we had one and it’d get cancelled last min.

The bottom sororities had more plans than mid houses this year because of all the frats in trouble not enough pairs and hardly any plans if you are in mouse
