Why are top houses boring?

by: Confused

I just finished the first day of rush at iu, and I am honestly so confused why the rankings are the way that they are? Almost all the conversations I’ve had with top houses have been boring. The girls literally talk about how they like to tan, shop, or boys which I thought we weren’t supposed to talk about in the first place… When I had conversations with houses that are more low and middle tier I actually enjoyed myself, so I am confused how the tiers ended up this way. It really seems like they are just recruiting based off looks. Someone tell me if I’m wrong or missing something

everything ppl are saying in the comments is wrong. top houses get their pick of the litter, so every girl in the pc was chosen, prefed that house #1, and wants to be there--which means everyone is both pretty and has a decent personality, is fun, and is super engaged in the sorority. look at the mid houses and a lot of those girls didn't get their #1 pref house. a bunch of seniors and juniors drop their sorority in those houses bc the sisterhood is not rly there. in the top houses, you RARELY see a junior or senior drop- 1 or 2 max in each PC, if any at all.

That’s why aphi had SEVEN seniors last year right? Compared with middle/bottom houses that had 20+. Keep dreaming lol

The mid and lower houses keep 20-40 of their seniors normally. They actually form the life long friendships you're being sold in recruitment. Many of the girls in top houses fit better somewhere else but decided rank was more important and end up disconnected and unhappy living with girls they don't vibe with. And then you end up with top houses with less than 10 seniors. Also girls realize that the frats don't matter after sophomore year so if they don't fit in with their sisters they drop.
