Joining sorority as a junior transfer

by: Question

Just transferred to IU this year. Is it worth it to join as a junior. Will i be in a good house or will most write me off immediately.

Guy here but waste of time IMO. I joined Greek Life as a sophomore and a year later I’m already looking to disaffiliate. Its fun if you get involved early but I was older when joining and just felt out of place. If you’re attractive enough to get into a good sorority as a junior you can already go to the fraternity parties anyways. Plus for me, after I turned 21 I stopped being involved with the house as much and started going to the bars more with my hometown friends and a couple of the brothers im close with. Don’t waste the money

Not even earlier. Greek life was only fun for me when I was pledging and it was brand new. Afterwards it just got repetitive and empty. I went through the hassle of disaffiliating this semester and don’t regret it at all.

Honestly: some houses may cut you because they have a live in policy and you probably wouldn’t live in as a senior. Also keep in mind you would be a lot older than everyone else in your pc. But, if that doesn’t bother you, go for it! I know girls who got in as juniors, mostly during informal rush, but worked out fine. Just be honest during rush & say you transferred and why you really want to join a sorority
