Housed vs unhoused pros/cons
by: pnm
I have some housed sororities I love and one unhoused that I really like.
I really want the traditional sorority house experience. I was deciding on another college that was equal caliber to IU and the fact sororities have houses here won me over.
I've heard people say that not having a house isn't a big deal. I guess I'm just looking for opinions on a house vs no house.

When I was rushing I wanted a house, but when it came down to it it was a deal breaker that the chapter that I ended up with doesn’t have one. I absolutely love the girls and the connections I have made and I love that we don’t have all of the rules that come with living in a house. Just trust the process and know that whatever chapter you end up in is meant to be!

When I was going through recruitment I also really wanted a house but I ended up in a chapter that does not have one and to me I don’t see a difference. All the women in my chapter are like my best friends and we hang out all the time and I still get the freedom to live where I wanna live do what I wanna do and not be confined to the house. And I’ve met so many more people than I probably would have if I had been in the house chapter. Also keep in mind your junior or senior year you will live out. Meaning you won’t be in your sorority house so for us being in an out house chapter we just live out the whole time

Definitely don’t drop because of housing! If you like the girls then one year of being in a house doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things, it usually just means more freedom and cheaper dues. The sisterhood is also super strong in these houses especially
