Landmark IN Supreme Court Case
by: cheeky alum
Hello again frats and srats,
As you may remember, a lawsuit dealing with IU’s ability to use a certain Bloomington zoning law to force Greek organizations out onto the street has been slowly but surely progressing through the court system over the past two years or so. In early 2019, a trial court struck down the offending zoning law as unconstitutional. My previous post on here announced the Court of Appeals oral arguments. That court thankfully ended up affirming the trial court decision. Tomorrow (Thursday) morning at 9am ET/8am CT, the Indiana Supreme Court will have its turn to hear oral arguments on the matter. Bloomington and IU aren’t giving up, but they thankfully have a tough road ahead.
To watch live:
1. Google "Indiana Supreme Court oral arguments"
2. Click what should be the top link.
3. Click the link entitled: "Oral Arguments Online"
4. Click on "City of Bloomington Board of Zoning Appeals v. UJ-Eighty Corporation"
5. Read the case summary.
6. Enjoy!
If you can't watch live, it'll be recorded as well. The decision will come out within a couple months.
Keep fighting!
Yours truly,
