Q: Do you need an invitation for informal recruitment?
A: For informal recruitment no you do not however for COB (continuous open bidding) you do
Q: So what’s the difference between informal and COB then?
A: Informal events are advertised open events by each individual sorority that anyone can come to the “open” rounds of. houses doing informal usually aim to take at least 15+ women through informal recruitment. Typically the same houses do informal every year in the spring and in the fall. COB is a hush hush event that is invite only and is only done if a house needs to fill a couple spots in their PC or in their house and usually these house want to fill 5 or less spots
Q: Which houses do informal every spring and fall?
A: ASA TPA DPhiE and SK have all done informal recruitment every spring and fall since they have been on campus. XO did it this past fall and the jury is still out on whether they’ll do it this spring but I STRONGLY doubt they’ll need to do anything but COB.
Q: Which houses will do COB?
A: Like I mentioned before it is different every year but AGD, DG, and APhi have done it every year I’ve been in school and I’m a senior. APhi only does it to take the 2-3 girls they wanted but got a 2.7 gpa. Yes last year MANY other houses did it from phi Mu to pi phi (yes I literally know a girl who is now in pi phi and got a cob last year and a girl in my house was also invited to pi phi fall cob bc they thought she was a geed) but that was bc a house got pulled during recruitment and it screwed with everyone’s numbers so that’s not happening again this year! And remember you do need to be invited to these events no matter which house!!!

Not true. Theta Phi and Sigma Kappa have not always done informal or COB. Before they rented Delts, TPA did not have to fill a house and didn't always do fall informal.

For cob they should invite people this week. For informal houses will start advertising next week and the week after when their events will be

Ok but in the past xo has taken 10-15+ above quota to avoid doing informal. We won’t know for sure if they will do an open informal until we see how many girls their new pc has

They could also just take QAs? The only challenge being so many girls deciding to SIP because they refuse to be in anything other than like 7 chapters.

Not sure where you are getting your info, but XO notoriously took exactly quota to look exclusive. And are you forgetting that they lost well over half their chapter last year to graduation, removing members and then drops and didn't take a spring pledge class?? They had 40 women on the rush floor. To be even close to the other chapters, they would have had to take at least a PC of 110. They took 54 quota additions I will be stunned.

Wrong you’re thinking of tri delt who is the reason why we stopped doing bed quota. I’m not saying xo won’t have to take any girls outside of formal but no one knows how their recruitment went yet and we will in about 30min to an hour so there’s no point in arguing over speculations at this point

Yes, they do have between 25-27 women abroad, but a few of them will be graduating in May and some in December of next year. I don't believe any of the women abroad will live in the house next year.
It all comes down to money. Every chapter needs to keep their house full to pay the bills and put some in savings. This is why I wish informal recruitment was more transparent. It's all really about paying the bills and if that was stressed, there would be less of a stigma attached to it.

Everyone wants xo to fail so bad idk if it’s sad or funny. One person says something halfway not negative about xo and 15 people have to jump in to put them down. Recruitment is already over there’s no more pnms in here u can try to convince to choose your house over xo so just give it rest already. The pledge classes aren’t changing so there’s no point in arguing over something we will all know the answer to tonight you all want to fight about chi o so bad it’s almost weird

When girls decline snap bids to XO, you know it's the beginning of the end. National should have save themselves the embarrassment and just let them go peacefully at the end of the school year.
And yes, more than 1 girl declined a snap bid there, which officially makes you a bottom tier chapter.

I’m pretty sure you can still do informal but you should ask your Rho gam. As for cob hate to break it to you but you prob won’t be invited anywhere if you got released from recruitment

Lol yes they have whether they took 2 girls or 35 they have done informal every semester. No shame in that at all but yes they most certainly have
