legacy influence

by: Clueless

I’ve heard that being a legacy only guarantees you get asked back to a house to philanthropy round, but if you make it to pref round you’re guaranteed a bid. Is this true?

I can't speak for all sororities, but that is the rule in my house. I think most are the same.

Legacy has no value at IU. Except now

The reason legacy doesn’t matter is because probably every house has so many legacies that the PC would be all legacy and no girls that were a good fit. Most houses invite legacies in fall to see if you vibe with the girls early but sometimes that backfires because it gets girls hopes up.

Aphi will have legacies at the top of their bid list if they are invited them pref.

I'm pretty sure this is standard policy for all chapters.

Which is why they cut them after round 2

Legacy really only matters in the Pref round as many others have said, many chapters have it in their by-laws if a legacy makes it to pref then they have to be on the bid list.

That is why the sisterhood round is so harsh for legacies and why so many legacies loose their house after that round. If you are a legacy who was cut after the sisterhood round, it isn't that the chapter strung you along, they really were giving you every chance possible. If they really didn't think you had a shot then you would have been cut early in recruitment.
