what makes a top house a top house?
by: top houseI’m rushing in the spring and am trying to understand what makes a top frat a top frat. I see houses put in the middle tier on some rankings who I know (from friends pledging) pair with the objective “top sororities”? just wondering

top houses usually are just known for throwing really good parties, however middle and upper mid frats still pair w top sororities!!! and they still throw good parties too! getting into a top frat might just mean u need more of a connection to those guys but not always. theres a bunch of great choices so dont get too stuck on the tiers

Rankings are arbitrary for frats, but objective for sororitys. It's just perception, nothing at all to do with the quality of guys. If people think Phi Tau is a top house, then they will be a top house. It's different for sororities because girls rush every house and they are put into the house that best fits them.

Everyone above is wrong and probably in a sad ass house that doesn’t pair with the top tier frats so they have no clue. Frats are based on the quality of parties and how outgoing, easy to talk to, and fun the guys are. Consider ZBT for example. They did not used to be “top house” but they took a solid couple of PC’s and started throwing the best parties on campus and now they pretty much only pair with the absolute best girls. Sororities are based on the quality of girl so if they’re good looking, fun to be around at parties, and genuinely decent girls they’re more likely to be a top house.

That's complete BS. The women don't get "put into the house that best fits them". Panhel's process is intended to create a fair/level playing field for every chapter. However, the "tiers" alter the results. Some chapters that are considered "middle" tier have very high returns, meaning they are extremely popular among pnms. However, they aren't considered "top" tier among fraternities (socially) simply because fraternity men are indoctrinated into believing which houses should be perceived to be "most popular". Then their egos want to get with those women. Tiers for sororities are completely subjective!
