you can only do what you can do, right?

if you see people doing things in your chapter that relate to the bad things you've mentioned--hazing, talking badly about other chapters, illegal activity--take a stand and potentially re-evaluate if you want to be affiliated with these people

if your chapter is not doing any of these things, enjoy your membership

in real life, most greeks are nice to each other and get along...focus on that

I sometimes go on this website to counter the awfulness, but this website isn't representative of real life. it's a bunch of jerks who are spewing negativity into the world

Don't tolerate disrespect. NPC sororities are supposed to be hazing free. The reality is- some are and some aren't. All you can do is try it out and see how they treat you. If you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, don't continue the process. But, they might be really nice, and you might miss out on an amazing experience if you just quit now. At least give it a chance!
