Honestly, not having a house can be a positive. You can still live with sisters, but no house rules. If you want to drink in your apartment/house, you can - no drinking in chapter houses. You don't share a bathroom with a ton of girls, you have the privacy of your own room and space. If you want your boyfriend to stay over, he can, no boys over night in a chapter house. Also, most upper class men move out of the chapter house after a year or two (depending on chapter rules), so living in isn't for all years anyway. Because you have to make an effort to see each other, you value your time together more. There's also less drama bc you don't all live together.

honestly, at the beginning.... i liked them but wasn't down for unhoused... but after these past couple rounds and talking with their sisters, i felt a lot different about the whole unhoused thing. it really doesn't seem that different from a housed sorority, and it's actually impressive that their sisterhood doesn't revolve around a house.

People like to put them down because of the house situation. In reality, there are schools all across the country where no sorority has a house and they all live and exist like ASA does at IU.
It is an experience getting to live in a sorority house but you do outgrow it after a while. Why else do you think so many girls get their own places after their live in requirements? I know some move out because of internships and student teaching and the like but living in the house for a year or two then moving to your own place is part of the maturation of becoming an adult.
When I went through had I fallen to ASA I would have gladly taken a bid from them because I wanted to be part of Greek life and part of a sisterhood. If not having a house is an absolute deal breaker then don't join, otherwise they are a good house with some really sweet girls.
Sisterhood is forever a house is only temporary.

ASA also offers so many more amazing women the chance to Greek who likely couldn't afford it otherwise. Some of the tiers seem to think it makes them lesser, but I would argue that makes them so much better. They clearly care more about the women they bring into their sisterhood than something as trivial as having a pretty house. A house isn't gonna be what you take with you after college, sisterhood and amazing friends are what go with you. Also chapters like ASA, DPhiE, and TPA and many other "bottom" sororities are the ones you NEVER see in trouble. They place more value on the relationships in the chapter as opposed to frat relations.

Yeah, the girls I talked to were so honest about how awesome their lives are lol. Like, they get to throw their own parties and have their boyfriends over, drink, smoke, etc... but they still get all the perks to a sorority. Honestly seems like the best of both worlds.
They also ALL live with sisters... like all the freshmen who come in immediately get their housing figured out for them...
