Most of the time chapters dont wanna take sophomores with lower gpas because it can be seen as a grade risk. Another reason is because as a sophomore your already fighting against freshman for the same spots. You should in theory look better than them in grades and involvement beyond Greek life. Some chapters also dont want to take sophomores that they are worried will drop because that's one less space filled in the house.

Bc freshman gpa is based on one semester and sophomore gpa is based on three this is pretty obvious lol. We don’t want go take freshman w a 2.8 but some still will bc one bad semester isn’t enough to kill you so if they work at it they can easily raise their gpa much higher for sophomores w under a 3.0 it’s a more permanent condition and you’ll get dropped from the vast majority of houses for it right away no matter how much they love/hate you. you can absolutely still get a bid as a sophomore w under a 3.0 but it might not be to a house you were previously interested in. If you’re a risk to take on you should be especially happy with any of our 22 chapters extending you a bid so go in w an open mind!
