sorority recruitment choosing sophomores
by: girlsdoes each house only allow for a limited number of sophomores during recruitment (if so how many per house), or are sophomores in the same boat as freshman with equal chances? just wondering how many sophomores are normally in a pc

People on Greek rank love to deter girls from dropping/re rushing as a sophomore by acting like sophomores have no chance anywhere but the low their houses, which is not true.
From personal experience in my chapter to friends who rushed as sophomores, you literally have the same chances as freshman. No one cares if you’re a sophomore honestly. If you fit in the house you’ll get in.

Unfortunately there is no sophomore quota or anything like that so you are at a big disadvantage at most houses being a sophomore. Bottom tier houses typically take 20-25+ sophomores middle tier 10-15 and top tier about 0-5. Rough numbers and can be somewhat different year to year but this is a pretty good generalization imo. Yes you can get a bid to a top house as a sophomore but you’d be one of around about 30-40ish girls of like 300. If you plan on rushing as a sophomore and will only accept a bid from a top tier house you might be wasting your time but if it’s worth it to you go for it.

I can only talk about my house! Yes, we have Sophomores but that number is lower then in the past. We will be continuing that idea. Recruitment is not easy @ IU. You may not like the House's given to you as Sophomore.
If you really want to be part of Greek Life, take what is offered to you!

Imma be candid here. A lot of people say “rushing as a sophomore won’t get you anywhere” and some say don’t believe that and it will. BUUUUTTT I’m just going to say this. There’s 2 sophomores that do formal: sophomores that just want to be in a house and have a positive outlook on Greek life, and sophomores who rushed already or want to rush that think they’re too good and need to be in a top tier.
Being in a top tier as a sophomore isn’t impossible but it’s hard, they’re going to go for freshman More that’s just a fact. A lot of middle tier and even upper middle let in sophomores. But if you thought you were too good for your pref houses last year I promise you you won’t go too much higher this year

Amen! The odds for sophomores that never rushed are probably better than for those that went through once and dropped because they thought they were "too good" for those houses that invited them back. If your insecurity and desire to social climb was showing last year, it will likely show this year. Unless you have matured dramatically, changed your physical appearance and/or befriended a ton of women in houses, don't expect a different outcome.
