sorority recruitment videos

I am curious what the point of sorority recruitment videos are? They don't teach PNM's anything, seem expensive, super cheesy, and they're all EXTREMELY similar. Someone please rain some knowledge on me about this subject.

Seems like a money maker for production companies that created a new industry by putting these together for sororities. Really pointless but each house feels they have to have one to keep up. Would be more effective and meaningful to actually hear from chapter members speaking from the heart about their personal experiences than some edited, boring video that is a duplicate of every other house. Sad!
