gpa effect on recruitment

How negatively will having a 3.0 effect your chances during recruitment? If you connect well with the members is it still possible to get bids at any top/upper middle houses?

If you're a freshman you'll be fine, if you're a sophomore it could be really bad for you

Having a 3.0 won't negatively affect your recruitment process. The highest I have ever heard a house cutting for grades is a 3.1 GPA. I also know friends who had a GPA lower than the GPA requirement (2.8GPA) and still wound up getting a bid. If you're a freshman, the first semester can be difficult since it's your first time really away from home, so it's totally understandable if you have a 3.0. If you're a sophomore, there are unexpected circumstances that happen and a 3.0 really isn't a bad GPA.

Why does your GPA only matter at top/upper middle houses?? You haven't even been to every chapter yet, how do you know that's where you fit in? If you check out the Panhel grade report, some of the top chapters have pretty low GPAs.
