just curious...

without saying what house you are in, post what you HONESTLY think of your house, and what you love about it, and what you dislike about it, etc. i think this will be a good way for PNMs to get an unbiased perspective of what sorority life is like at u of a. i'll start...

i didn't like my house during recruitment. it was always somewhere in the middle of my rankings, and when i got my bid, i was upset and i cried. but my RC convinced me to give it a fair chance so i did, and now i cant see myself anywhere else.

things i like about my house: we actually act like sisters. we fight, girls take each others clothes, girls cry, but we also laugh a lot and sometimes fight until it's funny and on a thursday night, theres always girls staying in and studying or watching netflix but theres also always girls going out and its never weird if you join in with someone youre not super close with. its like an actual family feeling.

things i dislike about my house: a lot of girls in my house go out and act embarrassing and cant hold their liquor, and so we sometimes get a bad reputation for that. i wish that was different. i also dislike our nationals because they basically just try to suck as much money out of us as they can. sometimes our standards board singles girls out and they get called into standards way more than other girls, too, which is totally unfair

YOUR TURN!! remember, dont say what house youre in.

Things I love about my house: everyone is welcome...it's never weird to sit with girls you aren't close with at lunch. Most of the older girls in the house felt like the big sisters I never had but always wanted and were there for me during some really difficult times. I also love Monday night dinner. It's always fun to catch up with everyone and share a meal sort of like you would at home. It makes college life feel more home-y. Also my little- she's actually my other half (like you always hear sorority girls say) and getting to show her the ropes and support her is so rewarding!

Things I'm not super crazy about: there are a few girls who like to fight everything our exec does. The rest of us try to be supportive but sometimes having a group of 5 girls who aren't on board is frustrating.

its kind of cool how regardless of what house you are in, what tier, etc, everyone loves their sorority for the same reasons, and has the same frustrations with their sororities. all houses are the same at their core, and have the same values of sisterhood. when it comes down to it, were all in greek life for the same reason and we stay for the same reason, because we find people we love and cant imagine our lives without #panhelleniclove

So obviously I love my house so much and I would do anything to defend it but of course there are things that aren't great 100% of the time. I love my house because it has taught me to really become a strong woman. It has also brought me to my best friends and bridesmaids one day. I know they will always have my back. I became an officer when I was a sophomore and I learned how to be a leader in a fair way, which is a skill I'll have forever. Some things I don't like is there is a group of girls in my house that I fear only joined to wear the letters and party. They never show up to mandatory meetings and post pictures and snaps of them being disgusting to be honest. I don't think taking a video of you taking a pull of vodka is that cool or cute. Unfortunately that group of girls gives my house such a bad rep sometimes and it's hard to show outsiders that we are so much more than that. I still love those girls because they are my sisters and they are always kind to me but I can't help but wonder why they do the things they do. Other than that I love our philanthropy, support we show other houses, and relationships we have as a whole. I wouldn't have wanted to join any other house because I feel at home when I walk through the door.
