Rush 2025!!!!!!!!!!!!

DUH. And that's the problem. Years ago (in a better system). PNM's dropped (not ranked) the houses accordingly and did NOT get forced back to a house that wasn't their tribe. What's wrong with that picture???

Everything was wrong with that picture, both for the girls rushing and for the chapters.

The sororities weren't required to drop pnm's they knew they had no intention of bidding until the last minute. They only invited them back so their return rate looked good and they could have as many girls as possible attending their parties all week so they would look as popular as possible. They would lead on so many girls all through rush, but right before pref came all the drops, and those drops were HUGE. Tons of amazing girls were left with absolutely nothing for pref because they had been dropping other sororities all week, ones where they actually had a chance, on the false hope of a bid somewhere that was never going to happen.

Those completely dropped girls would have loved a second look and a second chance at some of the houses they dropped, were forced to drop actually when the decision was on them at each round.

The result was a huge chunk of great, gorgeous, sweet girls not being able to join any sorority at all, the sororities missing out on some amazing girls, and many chapters not being able to grow their memberships.

And also in that system there was no such thing as quota additions. Quota was quota and that was it, so girls could go all the way through and be happy with a bid from any pref choice and those chapters would be happy to bid those girls, but they would end up being cross cut during bid matching and left without a bid at all. The pnm's and the chapters lost out. Heartbreak and damage all around. The invention of quota additions stopped this scenario from happening.

It was a BAD system for all concerned. It is so much better now. Second chances for pnm's, more bids all around, sorority growth across the board, all because it works in pnm's favor to know where they stand with the chapters as early in the process as possible and not hold out false hope for a bid that is never going to happen.

No one is forced to accept a bid, so anyone who thinks a house is not their tribe doesn't need to do it. But going back to chapters that girls don't think they like is not the end of the world for gods sake, check your privilege there, and it actually turns out to be a blessing for many, many girls who end up loving their houses and their sisters and never look back.

Not being able to drop houses during rush and being 'forced' to go back to where you are wanted is NEVER EVER going to get you asked back to a chapter that has decided to drop you. So go 'hmmmmmmmm' on all that awhile.....
