by: PnmI’m going into recruitment with only recommendation letters for zeta & chi o, do i still have a chance to get a bid from others houses ? i already plan on putting PKT at the bottom bc i don’t know anyone from there

Just curious why you didn’t get recs to the other chapters? When I hear of PNM’s who don’t get recs to all houses, I don’t think they REALLY have a strong desire to join a sorority. Would you show up to a final exam without studying for it? Or worse, skipping half your classes all semester? You’re basically doing the rush equivalent of that - so don’t expect anything more than failure.
It’s going to be almost impossible for you to get a bid. There are 1 and maybe 2 so called “mid/Lower” tier houses here where a rec is required by their nationals to get a bid. So that chapter(s) will cut you early too even though they are less selective than Big 6. And Zeta and ChiO are extremely selective so unless you’re majorly connected or one of the top PNM’s going through....good luck.

Most if not all chapters are required to have a recommendation to offer a bid by our nationals. We literally don’t have a choice, Go through rush knowing that and don’t take it personally. If it doesn’t work out, maybe you can get to know some girls and find some alums and re-rush next year.

If you go into a chapter and really impress the girls, it is possible for them to keep you past open house without having a rec initially. But, it doesn’t happen often. We had alumns write a rec the night of open house voting for 1 girl that a number of girls really liked.

If things don’t work out consider joining an org where you’ll meet girls in sororities. Young Life is a good option.

few people from my high school joined sororities so it wasn’t really a choice, i did try and get recs for other sororities. I do have a strong desire to join. and what does a recommendation letter from a random person really say about you anyways? They could be lying, why can the sororities try and get tonknow me for who i am
