genuine advice please
by: Out-of-stateI'm from out of state and don't know anyone who goes here. I'm rushing right now and am finding the rush process not very helpful at really getting to know the sororities. All the girls i've talked to are fairly nice, but i'm not sure how much of this is just a front. I'm looking for a sorority of real sisterhood where the girls are down to earth and very nice, but also like to have fun. Please help me!

Honestly you can find sisterhood in any of those sororities, it's all about matching personality types. Alpha phi and tridelt both have the reputation of putting more emphasis on looks, but if you felt a connection there don't let that stop you. Sigma kappa has the reputation of being hardcore party girls, but again not everyone. Axo adpi dg and zeta don't put as much emphasis on looks, more on personalities that match. All are a mixed bag, but in general adpi and dg are known to be a little more preppy, while axo and zeta are more chill and down to earth. Don't let any advise on this site make your decision for you; if you choose a house just based on rank or looks you will probably end up hating it very soon

You seriously cannot go wrong with any of those houses and I didn't know anyone when I rushed last year either. The best advice I ever got from my Rho after prefs was when she asked me, "which house would you rather pee your pants at?" It made my decision in 30 seconds and I'm so happy now. Good luck with everything and don't feel overwhelmed that you're out of state and don't have connections - most girls are in your same boat!

I still have Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Phi, Delta Gamma, Delta Delta Delta, Sigma Kappa, and Zeta Tau Alpha.
