Georgetown College - GC Overview

  About Greek Life at GC

Georgetown College is a small Baptist-affiliated liberal arts school in Georgetown, Kentucky, with a student body that numbers in the hundreds rather than the tens of thousands. At a school this size, the Greek community is on the smaller side, with a handful of IFC fraternities and Panhellenic sororities making up the system. The four fraternities — Kappa Alpha Order, Lambda Chi Alpha, Phi Kappa Tau, and Pi Kappa Alpha — operate under IFC, while Alpha Gamma Delta, Kappa Delta, Phi Mu, and Sigma Kappa represent the Panhellenic side.

Because GC is a private religious school, the social environment is shaped a bit differently than it would be at a large state university. Alcohol policies and the college's faith-based culture factor into how chapters operate and what events look like. That said, Greek organizations are still a meaningful part of campus life here, and at a school this small, joining one puts you in close contact with a pretty significant chunk of the student body.

Rush and recruitment at a school like Georgetown tend to be more personal and low-key compared to the massive formal recruitment processes you'd see at a large SEC or ACC school. Smaller chapter sizes mean you're getting to know people on a first-name basis pretty quickly. It's a more intimate process by nature.

Chapter housing works differently here than at bigger schools — GC doesn't have the kind of large Greek Row you'd find at a flagship state university. Chapters are woven into campus life through programming, philanthropy events, and involvement in student organizations rather than through off-campus house culture. Philanthropy is a consistent thread across both councils, with chapters regularly putting on fundraisers and service projects tied to their national causes.

Georgetown College's Greek system reflects the school itself — tight-knit, community-focused, and operating on a scale where individual involvement tends to matter a lot.
