University of North Georgia - UNG Overview

  About Greek Life at UNG

Nestled in the foothills of North Georgia, UNG is a mid-size public university with a military college tradition that shapes the overall campus culture in ways you don't see at most schools. The Greek system here operates alongside that environment and has carved out a real presence on campus, even if it's not the dominant social force it might be at a larger SEC or ACC school.

The IFC and Panhellenic councils cover most of the action. On the fraternity side, you've got chapters like Kappa Sigma, Pi Kappa Alpha, Pi Kappa Phi, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Sigma Chi, Sigma Nu, Delta Chi, Farmhouse, and Phi Delta Theta, among others. Sorority options include Alpha Gamma Delta, Delta Zeta, Kappa Delta, Phi Mu, Delta Phi Epsilon, and Sigma Kappa. Alpha Phi Alpha represents NPHC on campus, rounding out the council structure.

Rush at a school like UNG tends to be more personal and lower-pressure than what you'd find at a flagship state university. The smaller class sizes mean you're actually getting to know people during recruitment rather than moving through hundreds of strangers in a gymnasium. That can make the whole process feel a lot more genuine.

Greek chapters at UNG generally don't have large on-campus house complexes the way you'd see at Georgia or Ole Miss. Social events, chapter meetings, and recruitment activities tend to spread across campus facilities and off-campus spaces. Philanthropy is a consistent part of chapter culture across both councils, with organizations regularly putting together fundraisers and community service events tied to their national causes.

Overall, this is a more close-knit Greek community. Chapters tend to know each other well, and the crossover between Greek members and other campus organizations — including Corps of Cadets activities — is pretty common. It's a system where involvement tends to run deep within the chapters that are active.
