Missouri University of Science and Technology - MST Overview

  About Greek Life at MST

Missouri S&T is a highly specialized engineering and science school in Rolla, Missouri — a small college town that shapes a lot about campus social life. The student body skews heavily male and heavily STEM, and that context matters when you're trying to understand how Greek life fits in here.

The IFC oversees a solid lineup of fraternities on campus, with well-known national names like Sigma Chi, Pi Kappa Alpha, Sigma Nu, Kappa Sigma, Lambda Chi Alpha, and several others represented. On the Panhellenic side, the sorority presence is smaller, with chapters including Chi Omega, Kappa Delta, Zeta Tau Alpha, and Phi Sigma Rho — which is a fraternity specifically for women in engineering, a fitting fit for S&T's culture. There's also Beta Sigma Psi, a historically Lutheran fraternity, and Triangle, which is specifically oriented toward engineers and scientists. That mix tells you a lot about this school.

Rush here isn't the massive, highly produced spectacle you'd see at a big SEC or Big 12 school. It's more low-key and personal. Because the campus is smaller and the town of Rolla doesn't offer a ton outside of the university itself, Greek organizations tend to serve as a real social anchor for members. Houses give chapters a place to gather, and that matters more in a small college town than it might in a city school.

Philanthropy and community service are a consistent part of the Greek culture here. Chapters regularly participate in campus-wide events and fundraisers, and that involvement tends to get noticed in a smaller academic community where everyone kind of knows everyone. St. Pat's Board — S&T's legendary student-run celebration of St. Patrick's Day — is one of the biggest traditions on campus, and Greek organizations are typically active participants in that whole week of events.

Overall, this is a smaller, more tight-knit Greek community than you'd find at a large state flagship, but it's genuinely active and has deep roots at a school that's been around since 1870.
