Nestled in Florence, Alabama, UNA is a mid-size regional university with a Greek system that's a real presence on campus. The school sits in the Shoals area of northwest Alabama, and like most Southern schools of its size, Greek life is woven into the social fabric in a pretty meaningful way.

The system is organized across two main councils. IFC oversees the NPC-affiliated fraternities, which include familiar national names like Sigma Chi, Pi Kappa Alpha, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Kappa Sigma, Alpha Tau Omega, Delta Chi, and Phi Gamma Delta. On the Panhellenic side, you've got chapters like Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Gamma Delta, Phi Mu, and Zeta Tau Alpha. There's also an NPHC presence on campus with historically Black fraternities and sororities including Alpha Phi Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi, Phi Beta Sigma, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, and Zeta Phi Beta, which adds a broader range of Greek organizations than some schools this size typically have.

Recruitment for IFC chapters follows a more informal, open house style process typical of smaller Southern schools — it's less of the high-pressure structured rush you'd see at Alabama or Ole Miss. Panhellenic recruitment is more formal and structured, running in the fall. NPHC chapters operate on an intake model, which is separate from traditional rush entirely.

Most of the larger IFC and Panhellenic chapters have houses, and Greek Row is an actual physical part of campus life. Philanthropy events, date nights, and Greek Week are all regular fixtures on the social calendar. It's not a school where you absolutely have to go Greek to have a social life, but it's prominent enough that you'll be aware of it regardless.

UNA competes in the NCAA Division II Gulf South Conference, and while it's not a massive football-centric culture the way flagship SEC schools are, game days and campus events still give Greek organizations a consistent set of moments to organize around throughout the year.
