Tucked in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Lexington, Virginia, Washington and Lee is a small liberal arts university with a student body that's just a few thousand undergrads — and the Greek system here reflects that intimacy while still carrying real weight on campus. A significant portion of the student body is affiliated, making it one of those schools where Greek life genuinely shapes the social fabric rather than existing on the margins.

The IFC governs the men's fraternities, and there are over a dozen chapters represented, including well-known names like Kappa Alpha Order, Sigma Chi, Phi Gamma Delta, Pi Kappa Alpha, Lambda Chi Alpha, and several others. Kappa Alpha has particular historical roots here — the order was actually founded at Washington and Lee in 1865, so that connection runs deep. Panhellenic oversees the sororities, which include chapters like Chi Omega, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Kappa Alpha Theta, Pi Beta Phi, and Alpha Delta Pi. NPHC is also represented, with Alpha Phi Alpha and Alpha Kappa Alpha both active on campus.

Rush at W&L tends to be a structured process, especially on the IFC side. Because the school is small and Lexington is not exactly a major college town, the social scene leans heavily on Greek houses and their events.
