rush questions

by: Curious

Hoping for some honest input from houses on campus ! I am a junior transfer from California looking to rush .. I have heard mixed things about rushing as a junior. Are there any houses that do / don’t accept juniors? Any info is much appreciated - I know it’s a process to rush and was hoping to find out if it was worth it ! Do any houses to COB where I could meet the girls outside of normal rush so that I don’t have to rush with all freshman ? Thx !!!

1. Are you academically a junior or sophomore? If a sophomore then sure go ahead.

2. Most juniors don’t rush because by senior year they don’t want to live in and are 21 and go to bars more so then frat parties.

Do all houses really have live in requirements ? I met a girl last year in what seemed to be one of the more popular houses that lived in apt? I wonder if they make exceptions ? If not I agree would not seem desirable to live in the house as a senior

the houses usually have a 2 year live-in requirement. there are typically a good number of sophs who rush.
more “big picture,” its the only time in your life you can do this, so id say give it a try if u think u have any interest. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Living in the house is a big part of joining a sorority. That’s how you are going to meet the girls in your pledge class and become friends. Joining as an upperclassman AND a transfer student you aren’’t ever going to be close to any of the women. You’ll always be an outsider. I wouldn’t waste my time or money if I were you. Chances of you getting into a house with those intentions are slim. They want members that want to be a part of the chapter.

hey girl! i found my perfect home and rushed as a junior and literally no one cares! my big was a senior and it was perfect bc i still got to experience most of the sisterhood without feeling too old or left out. if the formal recruitment process os overwhelming look into cob! and a lot of houses will wave the live in requirements for many reasons like already having a lease and etc. so just do what you want and you will find the place that feels right! also you will still find valuable friendships!! i promise you that no one will care how old you are!! best of luck

Hey! Juniors rush and most houses are not strict about housing or living in! my advice is go through rush and see how you feel, you can always drop during! good luck!!
