Haven't received a bid from the house
by: Above AverageSerious question. I haven't received a bid from the one house I really wanted. I've been to the house 3 times. At what point do most people just move on? 1, 2, 3 parties? Do I just start over at new houses tomorrow night? Or is it too late? I feel like most of the guys getting bids knew someone in the house before rush. I'm normally pretty confident, but this sucks.

Move on after 2-3 parties, if you dont receive a bid. It is not too late. I would expand your list to include houses outside of the "top" 6. Most of those houses have limited space left, if any. You still have time to visit a few houses 1 or 2 times. Rush can suck. Maybe get off of greekranks. They make it seem like there are only a 3 houses worth joining. There are lots of great houses! Don't force it.

MOVE ON! If you are "working" too hard to have a house like you, move on. I had no idea the difference until I talked to the guys in the house I'm in. They genuinely wanted to talk to me. It wasn't forced. Not defined as a top house, but a true brotherhood that pairs with sororities and has great parties. This school has 27,000 male undergraduate students so don't assume that the perceived mid-lower tiered houses have a bunch of losers.
