PMNS following girls

I’m going to be a freshman and I heard that so many people are following girls in their sororities and reaching out.. I thought that was bad ??? Should I wait to follow to see if current members follow me first ?

feel free to follow girls on ig! i'd hesitate to reach out/DM them though, as a current member of a srat that'd feel weird to me.
