I believe that it makes no difference here, in any house. It's not the SEC.
Potential plus - You already have an interesting conversation starter. People will want to know more about where you are from.
Potential minus - very minor, but you probably know fewer people and will have to work a bit harder to get to know people since you don't already have a group of people you know.
