how much are dues around for the sororities and are letter of recommendation necessary.

Dues and expenses your first year are usually about $2,000-$3,000 total, depending on the house. After that dues will be around $400-$500 a semester. You'll get financial information about each house at first invite. Letters of rec are not necessary but they really can't hurt!

The Panhell website has a sample sheet for dues - not for an actual sorority but basically gives you an idea.
