SUNY Potsdam is a small liberal arts-focused public college in the North Country of New York, and its Greek community reflects that intimate campus scale. There's one active fraternity and two active sororities here, making this one of the smaller Greek systems you'll find in the SUNY network. That said, the chapters that are active tend to be genuinely involved on campus rather than just existing on paper.

Potsdam's overall social scene leans heavily on music and the arts — the Crane School of Music draws a distinct crowd — so Greek life is one piece of the social puzzle rather than the dominant force. Chapters do engage in philanthropy work and hold events throughout the year, but you're not going to find a Greek Row or chapter-owned houses dominating a stretch of campus. Most members live in regular campus or off-campus housing like everyone else.

If you're coming from a school where Greek life was huge, this system will feel different. It's smaller, more close-knit, and probably more integrated into general campus life than separated from it.
