Has anyone ever gotten a bid from open recruitment, or am I out of luck if I didn’t get one and don’t want to wait until the spring to rush

yes but it wont be to a good frat, most likely low tiers that wanna up their numbers

If you’re a sophomore who wants to join in a frat then you should probably do open recruitment, very very hard to get a bid rushing in the spring as a sophomore when frats are looking to take freshmen

Open is mostly for sophomores who rushed but weren’t registered to actually register

Do open recruitment if you didn’t like where you got a bud. Every house does it basically, even your “top tier” ones
