Be real, how important are looks and $ in getting a bid to a sorority? Does GPA, personality, character, involvements/accomplishments, etc actually count for anything? Or is it just looks, clothes, and access to Daddy's Amex black? I'd like to know honestly so I don't waste time pledging a rigged process.

There is every flavor of sorority. Some are VERY vain, others aren't. You should start the bid process and see which is a good fit for you.
Are some based on looks? You can absolutely count on it. But some are much less hung up on that and are just looking for members that are like minded. Some a mix of both.
As far as your AMEX comment, it's not cheap. You're going to pay $400 to $800 in dues. \n\n\n\n\n
