Sorority Housing in State College

by: brothel

Lmaoo obviously sororities here (mostly) don't have chapter houses off-campus and I heard Phi Sig might be losing theirs soon. But does anyone know why, since the brothel law doesn't exist? I'm a new member and I really like the idea of having an off campus house, so what's the possibility of that, challenges, dues, do chapters care, etc?

PSU sororitites used to have houses years ago. They sold the land to the university with the arrangement to have the dorm floors. That helped the university and the sororities who no longer had to maintain them. Any sorority could have a house off campus if they can convince their nationals to buy one. The problem is that they don't want to take on the expenses or liability on campuses where there isn't a competitive need to do so. Just because Phi Sig grabbed a house when it became available isn't enough to pressure for others to do the same. When enough had houses that it would hurt a chapter to NOT have one, they would take interest. When frats get kicked is the time to grab one because zoning won't allow new houses like that to be built. Convince your nationals and boom!

They’re probably going to lose it because SAE came back, unless a landlord owns that house now then it’s a toss up

If it's a landlord, they will definitely prefer to have girls there. No way they would kick out a sorority to let boys back in.
