explain me this

by: rt

Tell me sir what exactly do top tiers have that bottom tiers don’t? Are you naive enough to think top tiers posses some crazy secret aspects that they’re keeping from others? 😂 Every frat is at the core just a bunch of guys who hang out in each other’s rooms and once every now and then throw a party with warm beer, flashing lights and loud music with everyone packed into a hot basement. What “secret” exactly do top tiers have that lower tiers don’t? Nothing because before I even went on this site I couldn’t spot a difference in anything that any of the houses do, other than how close the brothers are to one another.

Top tiers have usually been around for really long, meaning they have: Alumni connects, tighter brotherhoods wealthier backgrounds (higher dues duh), more athletic/sociable guys, better houses, better reputations, probably better nationals relationships, harder pledge processes, better looking girls, better music... I can keep going. This is not a shot at lower houses but there’s a reason tiers exist.

^^^^^ I call BS. Funniest thing I read today. Not buying sorry but you can find all of that in ANY of your “made up” tiers

Alumni: Every frat has alumni connects. It has more to do with what you DID in your frat (positions) when you graduate
Brotherhood: Not a shot at top tiers but lower tiers tend to have MUCH stronger brotherhoods, especially when you consider that kids who rush top care more about parties while the lower ones joined for the brotherhood (not always true, just a tendency)
Wealthier: Don’t know about this but I’d assume so
Houses: Almost every social frat I know owns a mansion
Reputation: Sure I guess that’s true
Nationals: Not really correlated with tiers, has more to do with how well the frat is in following IFC and nationals rules
Harder pledge process: Probably true, don’t see how that makes much of a difference. Hazing works if you do it right, not worse. I looked at the hazing report they put out and a lot of the stuff is just stupid 🤣
Better looking girls: I’ve seen pretty girls at every frat party
Better music: Don’t know, most frats play the same generic music from the charts which kinda annoys me
“I can keep going”: Please do because only 2 of the things you mentioned are probably true and neither of them actually matter

Name one frat that’s lower mid or higher that doesn’t have a killer mansion as their house

Beta Sig would probably have the least connections of any frat at Penn State there’s no other college than us that has a Beta Sig chapter

National alumni mean nothing. The only real networking you get from frats are immediate chapter alumni and the 7 pledge classes that you meet while in the frat

apply this logic to sororities, is pi phi the same as DZ? dont be mad there are houses doing better than yours and work on yours to improve socially

All of the sororities offer the same experience. As for alumnae networks, there are some that are more respected nationally. Those would include Theta, Pi Phi, DG, Kappa, APhi and GPhi which all were part of the original NPC and have greater presence/strength/financial resources nationally. As for campus experience, the "tiers' drive the social invitations. Guys have convinced themselves, inaccurately, that the top tier chapters are more fun than middle or lower chapters so those in top tier sororities get more invitations. However, once there, the experience is exactly the same whether you are partying at Bagel, ATO or TDX.
